Meet Kate.
Hi, I’m Kate (she/her). I am a white, cis-gendered, British woman, a professional humanitarian aid worker and university teacher, and a parent of multiple children.
I am an experienced leader in complex environments, including natural disasters, political conflicts and violence.
If you want to make the world a better place, as I do, I want to help you do it.
I know how privileged I am and know that I do not truly know how privileged I am, if you know what I mean!
I love learning, and I love people. I trained as a professional humanitarian aid worker and then went to Afghanistan. I have since worked for local and international non-government organisations in Central Asia and the Middle East, and done consultancies and short term emergency response in many more countries across Africa and Asia.
I am increasingly aware of the need to decolonise myself and my professional practice and seek to challenge individuals and organisations I work with to do this for themselves too.
I have particular passions for those living with disabilities, refugees, war affected populations, LGBTQIA+ individuals, those recovering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and those trying to improve things around them.
